Recreation & Events

East Fishkill celebrates Community Day on September 11, while neighboring Fishkill celebrates the annual summertime Block Party, as well as Memorial Day and Independence Day. East Fishkill offers a bevy of activities in recreational areas throughout town. Red Wing Park features sports courts, fishing, swimming pools and playground areas. East Fishkill Recreation Park offers several sports fields and courts, a skateboard park, walking trail, ice skating pond, fishing and picnic areas. Additional recreation areas include Leetown Road, Brettview, Wiccopee, White Pond Center and Hillside Lake Recreation Center. Residents can also fish and boat on the 13-acre Emmandine Pond.

Education

The Town of East Fishkill is served by several school districts, including Arlington Central School District, Carmel Central School District, Pawling Central School District, and Wappinger Central School District. Wappinger Central school system is considered one of the best in the country. Higher education is provided by Marist College, Mount Saint Mary College, Dutchess Community College, and Vassar College, to name a few.

Local Economy

While IBM continues to be a major employer of East Fishkill, the majority of jobs are in the private sector. Of the private sector industries, Education and Health Services, Trade/Transportation, and Utilities top the list of jobs present. Additionally, a large portion of area residents commute to New York City. As the global center of corporate headquarters in finance and services, media, entertainment and telecommunications, manufacturing, and trade, New York leads the country in the number of Fortune 500 and 1000 companies headquartered there.
